Umar Akmal is a Pakistani cricket player and has played several Tests, ODI, and T20. He belongs to the family of one of the senior administrators in Pakistan Cricket, Mohammad Akmal Siddiqui. He completed his schooling locally from his hometown.
Umar Akmal was always interested in playing cricket as his elder brothers are also cricketer by profession. He was inspired by his father and brother to play cricket. Moreover, he started playing cricket since childhood and he became a part of the 2008 U-19 Cricket World Cup in Malaysia.
