Trupti Desai was born and brought up into the Hindu family of South India, Her father left home and family for an ashram and she was raised with her siblings and mother, At the age of 8, She shifted to Pune from Kolhapur with family.

Trupti did her schooling from Pune and then appeared for further education in Home Science. She left the study after one year of college due to some family problems. From an early age, Trupti Desai was very inclined towards social activity.

In 2010, Trupti Desai founded the Bhumata Brigade which has thousands of registered members. Next year, Trupti also participated in the anti-corruption movement. She also contested for the election of Pune Municipal Corporation in 2012 but lost it.

Her father left the house and family for the ashram. She brought up with her siblings and mother. At the age of 8 years, Desai moved to Pune from Kolhapur with family. In addition, She is the eldest among three siblings.

Next, Trupti Desai did protests against the financial irregularities at the Ajit Corporative Bank involving fraud of Rs. 50 crores. She also headed the group against the Chief Minister of Maharashtra Ajit Pawar in 2009.

In September 2010, Trupti Desai founded an organization called Bhumata Brigade. After that, she participated in the anti-corruption movement. The brigade was started with members of 400 and currently, it is grown with thousands of active registered members.

Career from 2012

In 2012, Trupti Desai contested in the election for Pune Municipal Corporation from Balaji Nagar ward and as the representative of the Indian National Congress. But, she lost the election. In 2013, She got an arrest after FIR filed against her by Shivaji Nagar Police Station. But, She got released on bail immediately.

In 2015, Activist Trupti Desai along with many other members of her brigade staged forced entries of women in Shrine Temple. This happened after a woman entered the Hindu Shrine of Shani Shinganpur Temple where women were not allowed. After the incident, the State Government and court have directed temple officials to allow in the shrine.

Next, Desai along with her members entered into the Mahalakshmi Temple in Kolhapur but the priests became violent against them. Following that, She made an entry in the inner sanctum of Trimbakeshwar Shiva Temple where she escorted by the police, peacefully.

In 2016, Trupti Desai attempted to enter into the Haji Ali Dargah in Mumbai. But, It became an unsuccessful attempt and received a death threat if she again tried to enter the dargah. In May 2016, She made a second attempt at a mosque under tight security. She was not allowed to the inner sanctum where women are banned.

In November 2018, Trupti Desai made an attempt to visit the Sabrimala Temple in Kerela but became unsuccessful. Moreover, the temple had a legal and religious restriction for the entry of women since 1991. Later in 2018. It overturned through the historic verdict of the Supreme Court of India.

In November 2018, She blocked by the protestors at Cochin International Airport for 14 hours. She decided to return after the incident. Again on 26 November 2019, Trupti came to the Kochi International Airport along with few other activists.

Trupti Desai also said that She has preferred 26 November to visit the shrine as it was the Constitution Day. Moreover, She said that “I will leave Kerala only after offering prayers at the shrine”.
