Biography
Shehla Rashid was born into the old city Habba Kadal Locality of Srinagar. She completed her schooling and did graduation in Computer Engineering. After college, She worked as the software engineer at HCL technology.
She came into limelight when she raised the issues of Juvenile justice and acid attacks on the women in Kashmir. Moreover. Shehla completed an MA in Sociology and MPhil in Law and Governance.

Shehla is active since 2010 after she was the part of organising a youth leadership programme in Kashmir. Moreover, In 2015, She became the vice president of the JNU student union as the nominee of All India Students Association.
In 2019, Shehla has joined the Jammu & Kashmir People’s movement which was started by the IAS officer Shah Faesal.

Shela was born and brought up into the middle-class family of Srinagar. She did schooling from the local school of India. After schooling, She did computer engineering from the National Institute of Technology, Srinagar.
After graduation, Shehla started working as a software engineer with HCL technology. During the time, She completed Jawaharlal Nehru University to pursue an M.A. in Sociology. She was a very active women activist from Kashmir since her young age. In 2010, Shehla became a part of organising a youth leadership programme in Kashmir. She raised her voice for the human rights situation in Kashmir.
In 2013, Shehla Rashid came out vocally in support for the all-female band composed of young Muslim girls titled ‘Pragaas’. Moreover, She launched a counter online campaign ‘I support Pragaash, Kashmir’s first all-girls’ rock band’. Shehla did the campaign to mobilise support for the girls.
Career from 2014
Shela Rashid contested the election of Gender Sensitisation Committee Against Sexual Harassment (GSCASH) at Jawaharlal Nehru University in 2014. Next year, Shehla contested the election for the student election for the vice president of the JNU. She won the election of the student union as the nominee of All India Student Association.

Shehla banned student politics at Kashmir University. Moreover, She led the protest against the University Grants Commission (UGC). The protest made due to the cutting student scholarship for Mphil and PhD students. She got support from the other university such as the University of Delhi, Jamia Milia University, and the Ambedkar University of Delhi.

Shehla ran the union during arrest of Kanhaiya Kumar for the interim period as she was the only office-bearer not facing charges. She also led the protest march on the JNU campus in which thousands of people joined on her call.

- In 2017, Shehla was alleged for the facebook post in which she had made used objectionable language about Muhammad. The FIR filed against Shora by the Aligarh Muslim University Student Union.
- On 27th October 2018, Shehla Rashid welcomed newly converted Irish singer Shuhada’ Davitt into Muslim community. The incident has generated an online backlash.
- Again in 2019, Dehradun Police filed an FIR against her for the tweet. She made the tweet that “15-20 Kashmiri girls trapped in a hostel in Dehradun for hours now. mobs outside are baying for their blood. Police are present but unable to disperse the mob”. Moreover, The FIR was filed under sections 504, 505, and 153b of IPC.
- In August 2019, Shehla Rashid tweeted that the Indian Army was torturing Kashmiris as a consequence of Indian revocation of Jammu and Kashmir’s special status. Also, the allegation was rejected by the Indian Army as baseless. Supreme Court lawyer Alok Srivastava has filed a complaint under the offence of Sedition and sought criminal action against Shehla Rashid over her allegations.
