Saroj Khan is one of the most prominent choreographers of Indian Cinema. In the early phase of Bollywood, It is said that the dance will not be completed without the perfect choreography of Sarojji. She was born and brought up into the Punjabi family of Mumbai, Maharashtra, India. Saroj Khan was very inclined towards dancing and acting from an early age. By the time, she received huge respect for her talent and became a part of the successful journey of Bollywood Cinema. She has worked as a backstage dancer to judge of dance show till the end of her last breath.

Saroj Khan was born on 22 December 1948 into the well-settled Indian family. Her father moved from Pakistan to India along with five children after India-Pakistan partition. She was born with the name Nirmala Kishanchand Sadhu Singh Nagpal but became known with the name “Saroj Khan.”

Career
Saroj Khan started off her career as a dancer since childhood. As a child artist, Saroj Khan appeared in the film Nazraana (1952) at the age of three. Next, she started working as a background dancer in the films of the 1950s.
Late Saroj Khan leaned dance under the training of B Sohanlal. Her first film as an assistant choreographer was Geeta Mera Naam in 1974. She received a positive response with her work along with Sridevi in films like Mr. India (1987), Nagina (1986), Chandani (1989), and many more.

She did notable work with Dhak Dhak Girl “Madhuri Dixit” like Ek Do Teen of Tezaab (1988), Dhak Dhak Karne Laga in Beta (1992), and Tamma Tamma Loge in Thaanedar (1990). She also worked again with Madhuri in the new generation film Gulaab Gang (2014).

From 2000 to 2004, Saroj Ji worked as a choreographer in the noted bollywood films like Swades (2004), Veer-Zaara (2004), Sringaram (2005), Don (2006), Guru (2007), Jab We Met (2007), and Love Aaj Kal (2009).
In following years, Saroj Khan became a new generation bollywood films like Agent Vinod (2012), ABCD: Any Body Can Dance (2012), Gulaab Gang (2014), Tanu Weds Manu Returns (2015), Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi (2019) and Kalank (2019).
