Career/Bhoomi Poojan Case
Saket Gokhale became a part of news headline after he filed a plea against the Ram Mandir Bhoomi Poojan ceremony in July 2020. He also appeared on the news channel to oppose the ground-breaking ceremony for the construction of Lord Ram’s temple in Ayodhya.
He filed a petition at Allahabad High Court and stated that around 300 people would join the ceremony at temple on the special occasion of Bhoomi Poojan which will break the rule of social distancing guidelines provided by the government.
In ZeeNews debate, Saket Gokhale stated that the groundbreaking ceremony of 5th August is very risky during the global pandemic of COVID 19. He also added that the government should postpone the ceremony for some time.
Soon after, Saket Gokhale claimed that he started getting death threats on the phone from BJP & RSS workers. She also tweeted and asked for the assistance from the Maharashtra Government after alleged workers of RSS (Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh) appeared outside his apartment on Mira Road and started chanting “Jai Shree Ram” slogans.
A Minister of Home Affairs took a note on his tweet and assured protection for his family. After that, many leaders and political personalities came out in the support of Saket Gokhale.
A political leader Sachin Swant also responded Saket’s tweet and told that “We must remind these RSS goons that we living in a democratic country. Besides, it is Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government and here goondaism will not be tolerated.”
