His mother first got married to Bengali Hindu, Mr. Chowdhry. Ranjit was the child from his mother’s first marriage. He has one sister named Rohini Chowdhry. Later, his mother got divorced with children.

Actor Ranjit Chowdhry is a very talented actor from India. He belongs to the family of popular theater artist Pearl Padamsee. Ranjit spent most of his childhood and teenage with his family in Mumbai. He completed his studies from his hometown. There is not much known about his academic career.

Ranjit was very passionate about acting and received his interest in the acting from his parents. He also started learning basic of acting from his childhood. He used to participate in the theater to learn acting. In 1978, Ranjit made his first appearance in the film directed by Basu Chatterjee, ‘Khatta Meetha‘.

In the film Khatta Meetha, he starred along with popular celebrities such as Rakesh Roshan and Ashok Kumar. Next, he featured in the films like Baton Baton Mein (1979), Khubsoorat (1980). After that, he went to America for his further career in acting.

In America, Ranjit Chowdhry has worked in several Canadian and American films. In 1991, Ranjit played the role of Indian migrant Nikhil in comedy English film “Sam & Me.” The film went very hit and received honorable mention at Cannas Film Festival.

In 1995-1996, Ranjit did acting in films like The Perez Family, Girl 6, Fire, Kama Sutra-A Tale of Love, and I’m Not Rappaport. He played the role of Indian Shopkeeper in film Girl 6 and Indian Immigrant Official in the film The Perez Family. Following year, he did a small role as a taxi driver in the independent comedy film ‘His & Hers‘.
