Farrukh Jaffar is a very noted actress, radio announcer, and theater artist of India. She belongs to the family of Chakesar village, Jaunpur, United Provenance of British India. Farrukh was very inclined towards arts like acting and literature from a young age. Her passion for the films led her to the profession. After getting married at the age of 13, Farrukh continued her study and graduated from Lucknow, University. After graduation, she started a career as an announcer and method actress. Throughout career, she appeared in several hit Bollywood films from the ’90s to 2000’s.

Farrukh Jaffar was born to the family of Chakesar village, Jaunpur, Uttar Pradesh. She belongs to the wealthy family of Zamidar in UP. There is not much known about her parents or siblings.

Farrukh believes in Islam and holds Indian nationality. Moreover, she spent most of her childhood with family in Jaunpur and then got married at a very young age.

Farrukh got married to Syed Muhammad Jaffar in 1948. Her husband Syed Muhammad Jaffar was a soldier in the Indian Army and journalist by profession. Her husband was also an active politician and member of the Congress party. He was a member of the Legislative Council (MLC) of Uttar Pradesh.

Actress Farrukh Jaffar has two daughters Mehru Jaffar and Shaheen Jaffar. Mehru Jaffar is a published author and journalist and Shaheen who runs a school.

Career

Farrukh Jaffar got married at a very young age however she completed her graduation from the University of Lucknow. After completing graduation in the early ’60s, she started a job as an announcer at All India Radio Lucknow in 1963.

Farrukh’s story is very interesting, Once she accompanied her friend for the audition at radio station and got a special attraction after seeing a recording room, mic, and a studio. Somehow, she managed for the audition and got selected for the job.

She worked there along with Parveen Talha and Mr. Sinha. Moreover, she became the first announcer at Akashavni Lucknow. In her successful career at Lucknow Radio Station, Farrukh worked with the show Geeton Bhari Kahani, Panchrangi Programm. She used to say popular line while airing show,

Next, Farrukh Jaffar moved to Delhi and joined Vividh Bharti at All India Radio station of Delhi. She worked there till 1970 and then due to some family reasons she quit the job at AIR Delhi and returned hometown.

While working in All India Radio Delhi, Farrukh Jaffar also started taking interest in theater acting. She attended acting workshops of Ebrahim Alkazi in Delhi. She also featured as the mother in the Urdu translation of Luigi Pirandello’s Italian play, “Six Characters in a Search of an Author.”

As a television actress, Farrukh Jaffar has worked in noted serials such as Husn-e-Jana, Adha Gaon, The Shawl, and Neem Ke Ped.

Film Career

In 1981, Actress Farrukh started her professional acting career in films with Umrao Jaan. She played the role of Rekha’s mother in the film. Next in 2004, She featured in the film Swadesh and played the role of Panch Fatima Bi.

Farrukh got huge appreciations for her work in films like Parched (2015), Barefoot to Goa, Amma Ki Boli (2013). Following years, Farrukh Jaffar made an appearance in the noted Bollywood films such as Peepli Live, Chakravyuh, Sultan, and Tanu Weds Manu.

Her latest work includes films such as The House Next Door (2017), Secret Super Star (2017), and Photograph (2019), and Sandeep Kumar’s Mehrunissa. In the film Photograph, she’s featured along with legend actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui.

Without getting any formal training for the announcement like radio professionals, she was the am A1 category announcer of the All India Radio during the 1960s and ’70s.

She has very close relationship with legendary bollywood actress Rekha.

Actress Farrukh has worked will many noted actors of Bollywood such as Amitabh Bachchan, Salman Khan, Shah Rukh Khan, and Amir Khan.

She considers popular filmmaker Muzzafar Ali as her godfather who spotted her talent and offered her a role in her debut film Umrao Jan.
