Davinder was born and brought up into the family of north India. He did his schooling from locally and then did graduation from Amar Singh College of Srinagar, India. After graduation, Davinder Singh has joined the police line as a sub-inspector in 1990.
He has served the Jammu & Kashmir Police as the inspector and deputy superintendent for over 25 years. In 2001, Davinder was the was deputy superintendent of Budgam’s special group. He associated with anti-militancy operations and got honored with the gallantry award in 2017.
Additionally, Davinder Singh was one of the police officers among 76 officers from Jammu & Kashmir to be awarded the President’s Police Medal on India’s Independence Day in 2019. However, later the Ministry of Home Affairs has denied this claim.
DSP Davinder also became a part of the official team that has the responsibility of welcoming the contingent of foreign diplomates visiting Kashmir. He was also photographed on that occasion.
DSP Davinder’s Arrest Case
Davinder Singh was arrested on the noon of the 11th January 2020 along with two most wanted militants when a private vehicle with four-man was flagged down at the police checkpoint on Jammu Kashmir Highway.
In addition, two militants were identified as the Naveed Babu and Rafi Ahmed and both are connected to Hizbul Mujahideen militants. Also, a car driver is identified as Irfan Shafi who is a former lawyer from Diaroo in South Kashmir’s Shopian District.
One of the militant Sayed Naveed Mushtaq is a policeman turned militant. According to IGP of Kashmir Vijay Kumar, Naveed was the senior commander of the Hizbul Mujahideen. He also stated that Naveed was a police constable and fled away from Budgam with four rifles. Also, his name is associated with the killings of civilians, policemen, and truck drivers.
AK 47, Grenades and many other weapons were found from the vehicle Davinder was traveling in as well as the DSP’s Srinagar home. Moreover, the cop Davinder booked under the Arms Act, the Unlawful Activities Act, and the Explosive Substance Act.
