Aslam Sher was born into a middle-class family of Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, India. He became very famous from his contribution to India’s national game Hockey. He put his great effort to win the gold medal in Hockey in 1975 World Cup held at Malaysia.

After retiring from the hockey, he continued service to the nation by joining Indian politics. Sher Aslam Khan joined National Youth Congress by the advice of Late Shri Sanjay Gandhi. Later, He got an opportunity to contest in 8th Lok Sabha election form the Betul, Madhya Pradesh. He won the election and became the Congress Member of Parliament.

Aslam Sher Khan also served as the Union Minister. And He was appointed by the Former Indian Prime Minister, Late Shri P V Narasimha Rao. In 2009, He again contested form the Sagar Lok Sabha Constituency as the Congress candidate and could not win.

Career

Aslam Sher Khan was born and raised into the middle-class Muslim family of Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, India. He did his schooling from his hometown. He completed his bachelor of science degree from the College of Bhopal. Moreover, Playing Hockey is in his blood as his father is a great hockey player and represented India at Olympic.

In 1966, Aslam Sher Khan called up for the All India Hockey School Camp held in Bhopal. He denied joining the hockey camp as his father fell in ill at that time. But later, He joined it, as his father motivated by saying ‘The more you play and The better you play, The more I’ll know you love me’.

He got selected for the All India Schools Hockey team under the famous hockey player Roop Singh, who played with his father in the 1936 Summer Olympics in Berlin.
